1 QUALIFICATION: FOOD PREPARATION AND CULINARY ARTS
OBJECTIVE: The qualifications within hospitality Industry have been developed
for those who wish to work within the catering industry and cover all the main elements of food preparation as
well as specialist patisserie knowledge and skills. This course is ideal for range of candidates looking for a
successful career in food preparation and cookery, from new starters to experienced professionals looking to
specialise in patisserie or move into a supervisory role. Moreover, these courses offered by City & Guilds are
recognised by employers all over the world.
The Level 2 Diploma in Culinary Arts is for candidates who wish to work in the hospitality industry and already have knowledge of the basic principles of kitchen work, or who can demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm to work and study in order to supplement their existing knowledge. Candidates will be required display both practical skills and the associated knowledge in order to complete the assessments
The qualification covers both safety at work and in the preparation of food, healthy eating and special diets, costing and menu planning and the preparation, cooking and finishing of a wide range of commodities and dishes
On completion of this qualification candidates may progress into employment as a commis chef or any other equivalent role in the kitchen.
2 QUALIFICATION: FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES
These qualifications develop and demonstrate the knowledge and skills you need to find your first job in food and beverage
service or progress into a supervisory or managerial role.

knowledge. Candidates will be required to display both practical skills and the associated knowledge in order to
complete the assessments.
The qualification covers both food safety and safety at work, menu knowledge and design, customer service and handling payments and food and beverage service and product knowledge.
On completion of this qualification candidates may progress into employment as a commis waiter or any equivalent role in F&B Service
